CLASS 3RD.

SUB:-MATH.

TOPIC:-

MULTIPLY.

Example : Multiply 33 by 200.

Solution : 200 = 2 x 100
         33 x 200 = 33 x 2 x 100
                        = 66 x 100
         33 x 200 = 6600

Multiplying a 2- digit number by a 2-digit number
Example :

Solution : Step 1. Multiply 72 by 4 ones
72 x 4 ones = 288 ones

Step 2. Then multiply 72 by 1 ten
72 x 1 ten = 72 tens
                 = 720 ones

Step 3. Add 288 ones and 720 ones

Thus, 72 x 14 = 1008

Multiplying a 3-digit number by a 2-digit number
Example : Multiply 284 by 28.
Solution : Arrange the numerals in vertical form

Step 1. Multiply 284 by 8 ones
284 x 8 = 2272 ones

Step 2. Multiply 284 by 2 tens
284 x 2 ten = 568 tens
                   = 5680 ones

Step 3. Add 2272 ones and 5680 ones

Thus, 284 x 28 = 7952

Problems related to daily life situations
Example 1 : A chain contains 152 beads. How many beads will 36 chains contain ?
Solution : Beads in 1 chain = 152
              Beads in 36 chains = 152 x 36
Thus, total number of beads in 36 chains are 5472.

Example 2 : Mohan sells 262 kg of sugar in one month. How many kg will he sell in 13 months ?
